Iñigo de la Serna
Partner

Iñigo de la Serna joined Seeliger y Conde as a Partner in October 2018.

He began his professional career as the head of the Hydraulics Department at the engineering consulting company APIA XXI for 4 years.

In June 2007, he became Mayor of Santander. During his time at the head of the Mayor's Office, he held for more than three years the Presidency of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

During two legislatures he was Councillor for the Environment, Waters and Beaches and Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Environment and Territorial Planning of the Government of Cantabria.

He was a deputy of the Cantabrian Parliament in two legislatures. From November 2016 to June 2018 he was Minister of Development of the Government of Spain.

In addition, he was Founder and President for four years of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities. He has held the presidency of the Council of Municipalities and Regions of Europe (CMRE), an organ that represents more than 150,000 European municipalities since 1951 and has been a member of various international organizations.
He is currently a member of the Advisory Council of NEC Ibérica SLU (subsidiary of the technological multinational NEC) and External Consultant of the Inter-American Development Bank.

Iñigo de la Serna is an Engineer of Roads, Channels and Ports by the University of Cantabria.
